UP Visayas and the Institute of Contemporary Economics will be co-hosted
Pagtalupangod: The Iloilo Economic Forum and Roundtable Discussion.
The forum provided an overview of the performance of the local economy
and its prospects going forward.
Much has been made of the economic performance of Western Visayas
coming out of the pandemic, with the region consistently ranking among
the best performing regions in the Philippines. The University and the
Institute seek to promote and create an environment where the economic
growth experienced is sustained. It is thus important to address concerns
about the enablers of this growth, specifically the supply of power, the
supply of water, and the impact of climate change.
The forum had the goal of informing decision makers on the challenges that
are faced and, beyond that, act to mitigate if not fully address these
challenges.
